ABOUT ANNA PAOLA CARRIERI
Anna Paola Carrieri is a technical research manager at IBM Research UK and Ireland, based at the STFC\'s Hartree Centre - Daresbury Lab, UK. Anna manages a team currently working on the development of interpretable/explainable AI technologies, including Foundation Models, for the integrative analysis of multi-modal data (multi-omics, clinical, experimental data, electronic health records, etc). Her research interests and expertise regard algorithm development and applications especially AI for healthcare and life sciences.She received her PhD in Theoretical Computer Science from University of Milan-Bicocca. Her PhD thesis focused on the development of combinatorial and stochastic algorithms for optimisation problems motivated by the need of understanding the evolution of genomic information starting from data produced by Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies. Prior to that, she received her B.E. Computer Science and M.Sc Computer Science degrees respectively from University of Bari and University of Milan-Bicocca, Italy.
