WORK HISTORY
Science Teacher @Los Angeles Unified School District
School Site: RFK UCLA Community Schools K-12 In my role as a Biology and Biotechnology teacher, I strive to make science learning a joyful and engaging experience for my students while providing a highly rigorous science curriculum rooted in NGSS standards & practices. My current research is centered around abolitionist teaching practices in STEM classrooms with a focus on STEM classrooms in community schools. It is my goal to develop a pedagogy and praxis for abolitionist science teachers that helps to break down barriers to science education and learning for BIPOC students. The essential question of my practice is: how can we usher more diverse learners into the sciences and help them to persist in science and STEM fields?
