   Special districts are local governments created by communities to deliver services essential to their health, safety, economy and well-being. When you think of special districts, think fire protection, cemeteries, parks and recreation, water and irrigation, mosquito and vector control, public utilities, and more. CSDA is the voice for all special districts, providing members with the resources necessary to best serve their communities.Advocacy is a huge part of what CSDA does, and I serve as the Legislative Assistant for the advocacy team, reporting directly to the Chief Advocacy and External Affairs Officer. In this role, I made the following contributions within the past year:• Organized over 90 office visits with California state senate and assembly offices for Legislative Days 2025 and sorted nearly 200 attendees into visit groups by their legislative district• Managed team work to effectuate the office visit operation which touched all 120 state legislative offices with either a visit or an informational packet drop off • Supported the Legislative Committee meetings by creating accurate and consistent packets with Adobe Acrobat, tracking attendance, ordering food and beverages, taking minutes, and administering Zoom access• Assisted the Chief Advocacy and External Affairs officer in creating the monthly Take Action Brief• Maintained the operation of CSDA’s Grassroots Mobilization Program by tracking all Grassroots Mobilization surveys• Executed the timely, accurate quarterly FPPC (Fair Political Practices Commission) reports that met both the spirit and the letter of the law• Designed various surveys and forms using various platforms including Wufoo and Informz and tracked results • Used diverse Microsoft Office functions, including Word mail merge, Excel filter, sort, and count functions, and Outlook calendaring to create Call-to-Action letters, pull district lists from a database, and schedule internal and external meetings
