About Anna Vickroy

I used to be a high-achieving, people pleaser with an explosive temper. I was critical, judgmental and constantly striving to prove my worth. I thought this was normal because after all, I had a successful engineering career, custom built home, husband and kids, and traveled the world etc. I cycled between anxiety and depression and between burnout and periods of high-achieving. I thought this was normal. I even left the engineering field to follow my passion of photography and built an award-winning photography studio with a dozen employees. But this wasn\'t the answer either because I created the same pattern of achievement and burnout and still felt like an imposter. Then I started to get sick with chronic diseases with no known cause or cure and I knew I had to do something differently. All changed when I started to heal my relationship with my body. I learned to: ACCEPT my body. LISTEN to my body’s needs. CHOOSE to take action based on those needs. RESPECT my body for its wisdom as well as for its limits. TRUST my body in differentiating between survival responses and my intuition. FEEL my feelings to release the trauma held in my body. REGULATE my nervous system to create capacity to feel more. BE in my body to be in the present moment. With each epiphany & layer of transformation, my engineering mind had to understand the science behind my experiences. I took classes with top educators in the fields of neuroscience, somatics, trauma, meditation, breathwork, spirituality & indigenous practices, yoga, hypnotherapy and anti-oppression. I hired coaches steeped in these fields to do my own deep internal work (and continue to do so). I’m certified in life coaching, mind-body therapy, somatic hypnotherapy and yin yoga. It is through my lived experience, training and education that I apply these practices to coach others through their own healing journey. In 2022, I closed my photography business and transitioned to support women to Awaken to their Body through retreats, education and community. I\'m seeing what\'s possible in this environment while bringing my grounded, human-first, trauma-informed perspective into the corporate world.
