Working as Project Manager on the Strategic Compensation Studies (SCS) project for the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC), hosted within RenewableUK. My role leads on the day-to-day management of the SCS project and all related work packages - including artificial nesting structures for seabirds, predator reduction measures, habitat creation/restoration and infrastructure removal - with the project funded by the Offshore Wind Evidence and Change (OWEC) programme. This involves collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders, including industry, regulators, UK Government, Devolved Authorities, Statutory Nature Conservation Bodies (SNCB) and eNGOs to develop and pilot strategic ecological compensation solutions for the offshore wind industry to improve the consenting process whilst supporting marine recovery.The main objectives of the SCS Project are to:• Develop and test delivery mechanism(s) and governance arrangements to allocate the benefits and risks from a strategic compensation scheme among multiple developers, including financial contributions, and to develop a framework to share risks across a number of schemes in a region. • Test and monitor potential strategic compensation measures through a series of practical and desk-based studies.• Define and test the most appropriate approaches to monitoring and managing strategic compensation measures (incorporating adaptive management)• Provide compensation options that satisfy Habitat Regulations / Marine and Coastal Access Act Compensation requirements for offshore wind plans and projects
