ABOUT ANNA T.
Anna Thompson is passionate about applying her skills in creative and academic writing, background in one-on-one mentoring, and professional experiences across a wide range of industries, from EdTech to higher education to nonprofits, in helping students and organizations achieve their goals in English Language Arts (reading, writing, and EFL), mathematics, test prep, and the college application process. Students, families, and organizations alike choose to work with Anna because of her student-centered and individualized teaching, technical skills in mathematics and writing, and cross-disciplinary background, supported through a liberal arts background and love of learning. Anna works with both domestic (US and UK) and international students looking to study in the US, UK or further afield, and is an Associate Member of IECA.From high school, her love of education (especially mathematics and writing) inspired her to begin her work as a freelance tutor, alongside developing her own talents in creative and academic writing. While studying both her Bachelors (BA Linguistics and Mathematics) and Masters (MA Psycholinguistics), Anna worked in Residential Life, helping students transition socially and academically to university, while she also pursued opportunities in teaching and instructional design. Since graduating, she has read over a college applications as an International External Admissions Reader for UC Berkeley, worked with students from across the world on their college applications, and taught a wide range of subjects in environments ranging from schools and extracurricular programs to universities and online. A multidisciplinary educator, Anna has also developed curriculum across English Language Arts, test prep, teacher training, Indigenous language learning, and LGBTQ+ education for a variety of organizations, including in EdTech and nonprofits. She has also developed her skills in digital marketing, creating social media content, newsletters, blogs, websites and more for small businesses, charities, and higher education programs.These, and her experiences attending a community college (where she earned an AA in English as well as Social and Behavioral Sciences during high school), a small, liberal arts college, and a public, UK research university (and completing these degrees all before her 21st birthday) give her a unique empathy and perspective on finding confidence in difficult curriculum, telling your story, and finding and achieving your college fit, working with students through all stages of their journey to higher education.
