About Anna Marie Steltenkamp
What pathways exist for re-rooting ourselves in local landscapes and becoming reciprocal members of our social and ecological communities, while protecting cultural heritage and biological diversity? This is the core question I explore as a multimedia storyteller, educational and community engagement facilitator, and interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersections of environmental justice, biocultural restoration, food sovereignty, and collective placemaking. Throughout my work, I strive to amplify the many stewards, storytellers, and solutionists leading us on this journey toward a more resilient and renewed future. Redefining expertise – to be inclusive of diverse perspectives, life stories, generations, and knowledge systems – is central to my past and present work.I am currently a graduate student pursuing the dual Master of Environmental Management and Master of Forestry program at Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment, honored as both a Nicholas Scholar and University Scholar. I am also the Outreach and Engagement Manager for Dirt Corps, which is a Seattle-based organization specializing in community-based ecological restoration, urban forestry, and green infrastructure, as well as youth and adult green workforce development, throughout the Duwamish Valley and King County.
