About Anna Grigoreva
I am a PhD researcher exploring the intersection of AI, internationalization, and academic diplomacy — with a focus on student mobility, virtual exchange (COIL), peace education and international student success through an equity and decolonial lens. My academic background spans cultural studies, sociology and international education policy. I bring three years of experience in International Admissions and three years of work in the field of student leadership development as a GA for Academic Advising at the DFSL at University of Maryland - College Park. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies, a Master’s in Sociology, and a Master’s in International Education Policy. My research focuses on the educational experiences of international students, evidence-based education policy decision making, academic advising, co-curricular learning, comparative education and the integration of education and technology.I am a Fulbright VGS Scholar, an Erasmus alumna, U21 Global Scholar, with over nine years of experience in teaching, research, and university administration—particularly in roles related to the internationalization of higher education. As a first-generation scholar who pursued education across multiple national and political contexts, my perspective is shaped by lived experience navigating displacement, linguistic transition, and educational systems under political constraint. This background informs my commitment to academic diplomacy, cross-cultural collaboration, and the use of technology to expand access to knowledge for learners whose educational pathways are shaped by instability or limited opportunity. I am annually serving as a volunteer in applications selection process at CIES, NAFSA SRC of the Washington Consortium for Comparative and International Education and Training (WCCIET). I am a current member of International Graduate Student Government Board at University of Maryland - College Park, representing the interests of international graduate students. I serve as a reviewer of the \"Journal of Global Higher Education\"(JGHE) within the \"Research with International Students\"(RIS) network and CIES Higher Education SIG \"Journal of Comparative and International Higher Education\"(JCIHE).You can find me in Google Scholar: & hl=ruORCID: ResearchGate: the University of Maryland Website: https://education.umd.edu/student-directory/anna-grigoreva
