As a Researcher for the Building STEM and Community Identity Through Design Thinking Bass connections team, I will be using the results from the 2025 Ignite program to bolster and improve the existing Ignite curriculum. The goal of the program is to increase STEM and community identity in Durham teens by introducing them to engineering through addressing local issues. This fall, we are aiming to increase the presence of local issues in our curriculum and to redefine and specify how to quantify the qualitative data that the research team collects throughout the 8-week program.
