About Anna Crippen

As a recent graduate of Lees-McRae College with a B.S. in Wildlife Biology with a Specialization in Wildlife Rehabilitation, my goal in life is to use all of the hands-on experience I have obtained through education and experience to achieve my future as a zookeeper. While working in the Dan and Diane May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center on campus to rehabilitate animals as well as educating the public through our ambassador program, I grew a strong foundation in my animal husbandry skills. My next step was my internship at The Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone, Minnesota, where I honed my husbandry skills for wild cats. As a zookeeper, it is my hope to create a connection with the animals I work and train with, then demonstrate that connection to the general public. By showing other people how we can connect with animals, I want to educate them on how we can give back to animals and the environment. My latest step up the ladder to achieve this goal has been my recent acceptance into the Animal Husbandry Intern position at the Wildcat Sanctuary in Sandstone, Minnesota. My role includes animal diet prep, medication prep, enrichment making, and other hands-on projects around the facility before freezing temperatures set in. While my current position is education, and not animal care, it is important to my goals of educating the public on the environment!
