ABOUT ANN SHELLY
I have expertise in weather modelling, tropical meteorology and sub-seasonal/seasonal weather prediction. My capability in model evaluation and development was acquired during a decade spent as a research scientist at the UK Met Office. There, I was afforded the opportunity to collaborate with, and learn from many scientists and technologists across the organisation and at partnering universities. I developed a broad and deep understanding of the earth system during this time, authored many peer reviewed journal papers and presented my research at global conferences. In 2015, I moved to a private sector role, leveraging my tropical weather knowledge to create edge in the commodities markets. Since then, I have been responsible for developing new products to aid in setting weather views for various commodities markets, and innovating on new research to provide insight into predictability of weather for trading locations. My specific areas of expertise span the Madden Julian Oscillation, El Nino Southern Oscillation, air sea interactions, model development and general medium to long range forecasting. When I\'m not wrangling multidimensional datasets, you\'ll mostly find me outdoors, surfing on the Cornish coast or tending to my garden.
