I assess business quality and management of public and private companies for this New York based investment firm and oversee research on how the energy transition will impact our portfolio and the economy. I serve on our Research Steering Committee and ESG Integration Committee. I also provide our private portfolio companies with bespoke strategic field research. Select Equity Group is an employee-owned investment firm founded in 1990 on the premise that rigorous, independent research and disciplined long-term investing will generate superior returns for our clients. Our global client base includes high-net-worth individuals, multi-family offices, endowments, foundations, private banks, insurance companies and public and corporate pensions. Our process is driven by internally generated and researched ideas. Our due diligence process often includes extensive fieldwork conducted by research analysts in conjunction with our internal Qualitative Field Research team, including several ex-investigative and business reporters and sourcing associates (and in select international markets, an outside sourcing consultant). We utilize field research to obtain proprietary, actionable investment insights through in-depth investigation with rigid compliance guidelines to avoid exposure to material nonpublic information. As part of our detailed analysis, we will often speak with a company’s former employees, competitors, suppliers, distributors and customers.
