Edible Education is a hands-on, healthy cooking school that travels to your school We have 2 teaching kitchens in Midothian, VA for birthday parties, homeschool classes and Camp C.H.E.F. with commercial meeting and kitchen space rental. This is the start of our 6th school year and we have taught in over 80 schools in 7 Central Virginia Counties. In July of 2013 - we taught our student the beauty of great food. To date we have taught over students. Our kitchen a la Cart was introduced at the National After School Alliance Conference in 2016. The sleek, comprehensive mobile teaching kitchen has hot and cold running water, an induction burner, and convection oven. It comes complete with supplies for 10 students to enjoy hands on cooking. The Kitchen a la Cart is now part of the nutrition education programs of The Central Illinois Foodbank, The University of Memphis, University of San Jose State, Choctaw Tribal Hospitals, entire Westlaco School District and can be found in 21 states across the country. Our chefs have witnessed a 5th grader that had never eaten a carrot, a 3rd grader that did not know what a strawberry tasted like and a 350 pound middle schooler that could not stand for the entire 45 minute class as he was too tired. I was once the Culinary Arts teacher of a high schooler that had his stomach stapled at age 17 because he his heart was in jeopardy. But we have taught of kids kale chips and had them tell us they made them for their families for Thanksgiving. We have seen kids flip a vegetable omelet and beam with excitement at their new found skill - and the realization that now they can fend for themselves when no one is able to be there - we teach empowerment - great food is the tool.
