It affects over 12 million people, with over half a million new diagnoses made each year, costing £11 billion a year to the NHS and wider economy.(Source: Asthma +Lung UK)People living in our region suffer from lung conditions disproportionately due to our industrial heritage and population demographics, and our aim at Breathe Easy Darlington is to reach as many local people with lung disease as possible with appropriate support. We help residents,and their carers, in Darlington,Teesside, County Durham and North Yorkshire suffering from lung disease and respiratory conditions live better lives. Through FREE membership of Breathe Easy Darlington, chronic conditions like Asthma COPD and Bronchitis can be managed better with regular supervised pulmonary rehabilitation exercise classes. Social groups and regular lunch meetings and outings help to reduce the social isolation of those living on their own particularly as the majority of our members are 65 plus age group.
