Working collaboratively to design a DC microgrid with distributed PV, EV charging and LED lighting for a Net Zero Energy Community. Organizing meetings to promote knowledge sharing and lessons learned on smart grid initiatives between industry, federal, provincial and territorial governments. Leveraging these projects to report on Canada\'s smart grid position to Mission Innovation Smart Grids Innovation Challenge #1 for potential international partnerships.Participating on IEC TC57 Power Systems Management and Associated Information Exchange as a Canadian expert. Analyzing and discussing standards relating to power system intelligent electronic device communication and associated data models for distributed energy resources and distribution automation (Working Group 17) with stakeholders and fellow committee members on Canada\'s position.Researching techniques on how to leverage smart grid technology to facilitate the integration of renewable energy across Canada, focusing on working with electric utility companies. Evaluated control schedule strategies and analysis in MATLAB to reduce peak demand and reduce greenhouse gas emissions for residential load. Looking into identifying and developing solutions for utilities to confront interoperability issues with various communication protocols.
