About Anjali Bansal

Anjali Bansal is the founder of Avaana Capital investing in frontier technology and innovation led startups in critical sectors such as energy, climate, advanced manufacturing, AI and robotics, semiconductors and quantum computing, agriculture and food systems, biotechnology, and advanced materials. Investments include Farmart, Eggoz, Alphavector, Eeki Foods, Amperehour, Aerem, Kazam, Dreamfly, Bacalt, Enlite, Tsuyo Motors. She has earlier invested in and mentored various successful startups including Delhivery, UrbanClap, Darwinbox, Nykaa, and Lenskart. Anjali is former Non-Executive Chairperson of Dena Bank (now Bank of Baroda) appointed by the Government of India to steer the resolution of the stressed bank. She was earlier a global Partner and Managing Director with TPG Growth Private Equity. She started her business career as a strategy consultant with McKinsey and Co in New York and earlier as an engineer. Anjali serves as an independent non-executive director on leading boards including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Power, and Nestle, GIFT City. She was President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has previously chaired the India board of Women\'s World Banking, and was independent director on the boards of GSK Pharma, Siemens, Kotak and Delhivery. She was instrumental in creating India’s newest Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) platform in a public-private partnership model, Open Networks for Digital Commerce (ONDC). She serves on the Review Committee for India’s national planning thinktank NITI Aayog, Chaired by the Honorable Prime Minister. An active contributor to industry, Anjali previously co-founded and chaired the FICCI Center for Corporate Governance program for Women on Corporate Boards. She is a charter member of TIE and a member of the Young Presidents Organization. She has been listed as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Indian Business” by India’s leading publication, Business Today, and as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Business” by Fortune India. Anjali has a BE in Computer Engineering from Gujarat University, a Masters in International Finance and Business from Columbia University, and the YPO Presidents Program at Harvard Business School.
