About Anita Pariseau

I graduated with a BS in communications management from Ithaca College. Typically communications degrees are BA’s, but at Ithaca there’s strong emphasis on the technical, so I learned film making, photography, TV and radio production, in addition to writing for all media. After graduation I moved to Boston and spent 5 years at a newspaper and then an ad agency, where I managed a copywriting department. When I started to question my purpose (am I really doing the world any good trying to convince others to eat donuts?), I decided that higher ed would be a great arena for me. As the daughter of two hardworking parents and heavily reliant upon financial aid, I had the noble idea of eventually paying it forward to others like myself who were fortunate to get a degree. I first landed at Wellesley College, where I worked on publications for alumnae, including its alumnae magazine. I then had a great opportunity to work at Harvard University for its alumni association running its coveted Class Reports publication department. While it was very hard to leave, it was time for a new adventure and I moved West. Fortunately for me, Colorado School of Mines had ambitious plans to reinvent its alumni association. Mines offered me the opportunity to create new programs, breathe life into the tried-and-true, and assemble a very talented team. When Colorado College offered me the opportunity to reinvent its alumni program, I welcomed the chance. Under my leadership, we were able to increase engagement with our external constituencies (alumni, parents, community) through a variety of new programs, including an immersive educational travel program.My hallmarks are recognizing talent, bringing out the best in others, and building harmonious and productive teams. Now I\'d like to help other organizations realize success by doing the same.Travel and writing are complementary endeavors that bring joy to my life. Having visited five continents, I love planning adventures for myself and others that thoroughly immerse us in new experiences and cultures.
