Curious and motivated engineer with proven experience in ramping up on new technologies and delivering production-quality results. I am fascinated by learning how things work \'under the hood\'. My love for tech minutiae is balanced out by a product-oriented approach that values practical decisions and exceeding stakeholder expectations. I constantly strive to translate ideal, long-term vision into concrete actionable steps in the present, with special attention towards modularity, maintainability, and scalability. I believe in working and succeeding as a team, and am effective at communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.I have over two years of professional software development experience with Java, MySQL, JQuery on the front end, Apache and GlassFish/TomEE for web services, AWS EC2 for deployments, and Maven for build automation. I have hands-on experience with authentication/authorization, performance optimization, refactoring legacy code, and improving software development workflow. More recently, I built a content export pipeline using JavaScript and Node.js with a focus on functional programming for better unit testing. I use Python extensively for prototyping and academic/personal projects.
