ABOUT ANINDITA MITRA
I am an architect, planner, urban designer, researcher, activist and educator. For more than 30 years I have been researching, implementing and advocating for green building practices and sustainable approaches to community planning with a particular focus on equity, culture and economic opportunity. My work has taken me into well-established, emerging as well as marginalized jurisdictions within urban and rural environments. I enjoy engaging with my clients in decision making and setting powerful visions and strategies to make their jobs easier and more rewarding. My practice focuses on sustainable outcomes, whether it is in the design of transit systems, marine facilities, public spaces, comprehensive site or community wide plans, strategic plans, green buildings, or preparing my clients for the appropriate green certification. I offer tailored strategies for equity and social justice, cultural expression, sustainability, and efficient energy outcomes. My project experience ranges from developing sustainability strategies for a maritime operator; Washington State\'s first municipal energy plan; leading the revitalization plan for a 350-acre industrial site in the midwest or for a corridor in East Oakland; designing an 8-acre civic park, a fully self-sustaining home, or an Arts Corridor; redesigning a skyscraper with integrated solutions for health and efficiency; and leading a sustainability-driven comprehensive plan for an oceanfront town; to facilitating cultural intelligence training to organizational and community wide strategies for equitable outcomes. I work tirelessly to solve my clients toughest challenges and nothing brings me more joy than seeing my clients succeed and improve their sustainability bar.
