About Anil Pawar

Two forces are reshaping enterprise value creation: sovereign cloud infrastructure and agentic AI. Together, they determine which organizations retain strategic control of their technology assets — and which cede it. The leaders who understand both the business architecture and the technology architecture will define the next decade. I sit at that intersection. I am currently building a sovereign cloud and AI from inception — a product business competing in a market dominated by global incumbents, serving governments and regulated enterprises where infrastructure independence is a sovereign and commercial imperative. The thesis is not technology for its own sake. It is that cloud sovereignty and AI-native capability are increasingly the basis of competitive advantage, regulatory compliance, and national strategic interest. That thesis requires leadership that can operate across three commercial and strategic planes simultaneously — Technology Strategy as Business Strategy I develop and own technology investment decisions at board and executive level — translating architecture choices into capital allocation, competitive positioning, and risk management. Cloud-native transformation, AI adoption, and infrastructure sovereignty are not technology programs. They are business decisions with long-duration consequences. Techno-Commercial Architecture I structure the commercial logic of technology platforms — pricing, build-versus-buy, partner and ecosystem strategy, vendor economics, and total cost of ownership — alongside the technical architecture. The two are inseparable. Organizations that separate them consistently underperform on both. Agentic AI as a Value Creation Lever The shift from AI adoption to AI-native operating models creates measurable business value — in unit economics, decision velocity, and organizational leverage. I have led that transition: not as an implementation exercise, but as a strategic repositioning of how an enterprise creates and captures value. Over 27 years, the consistent thread has been this: technology decisions made without commercial clarity destroy value. Commercial strategies built without technology depth fail to execute. The leaders who can hold both — and translate between them — are rare

Experience

  1. Chief Operating Officer

    Adani Group

    May 2025 — Present · Mumbai, IN

Standing up agentic AI capability at scale — not as pilots, but as AI embedded into operations, products, and decision-making across businesses. Building the cloud-native and sovereign infrastructure foundation that underpins it — owning the architecture decisions, vendor strategy, and capital allocation logic. And architecting the techno-commercial framework — governance, investment logic — that translates technology decisions into measurable business value across the portfolio.
