ABOUT ANIL MAHESHWARI
I\'m a physician and speaker specializing in preventative and weight loss medicine. I practiced in New Jersey for 9 years before moving to Ontario in 2009. I emphasize the fact that many diseases are preventable and treatable with lifestyle. I strive to follow my own advice. My drug of choice is running - I have run a half marathon and am on a never-ending quest to finish a full one.I enjoy sharing my passionate views with anyone who is willing to listen. I\'ve appeared on CBS, CTV, CP24 and was a regular on 91.5 The Beat. I\'m active on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. I give Exercise is Medicine multimedia presentations to patients, healthcare providers, and dogs (basically any human or animal that is willing to listen). I strongly believe that technology improves healthcare. I helped to successfully implement a patient portal in my 16 physician group in 2013. I\'m on a quest (sounds like I should be carrying a flag and lance) to use every nook and cranny of electronic medical records to improve outcomes for my patients. I enjoy using Virtual Visits, eReferrals, eConsults, and other cutting-edge technology to improve patient care. I work with OntarioMD and the eHealth Centre of Excellence to roll out these technologies to other physicians. My other passion is doing stand-up comedy. I started at Rutgers University and later performed at New York City clubs. I\'ve performed at shows featuring Adam Sandler, Steven Wright and Rita Rudner. In Canada I\'ve performed at Yuk Yuks. My claim to fame is that I helped shut down the Kitchener location. I never make fun of patients - my comedy focuses on my childhood and being a doctor and is squeaky clean. so my parents can watch. I find it perfectly natural to be a physician that performs standup and the combination generates a lot of interest. I\'ve been featured in the New York Daily News, American Medical News, Waterloo Record and Cambridge Times. It’s a good thing I’m not shy.If you\'re passionate about any of the above or are looking for a humorous physician speaker to present to your organization about preventative health, weight loss or technology in healthcare, contact me and let’s see if we can work together to improve this thing we call life (can you tell I grew up in the 80s?).
