About Andrew Hunter

I am a software architect, serial entrepreneur, amateur data scientist, and perpetual tinkerer. I began programming at age 11, carried the passion through college, and quickly discovered that my true passion lies in applying software to solve real-world problems. I have founded or co-founded 5 companies across various verticals since 2007, from gaming, to gaming monetization, to advertising technology, to real estate.My first startup, Kickflip Inc, was a gaming company built on the Facebook platform. We experimented a lot, quickly found that the biggest opportunity was in monetization, and pivoted to start Gambit Labs - my largest success. Gambit was a monetization platform for social games. With a single line of code, we brought direct payments and affiliate advertising into social games, helping those games to inject virtual currency in exchange for earning real money. I launched Gambit in October of 2008 and took it to a run rate of $48M by October of 2009.My next startup, Volume11 Media, was an innovator in the video advertising space. We played on Gambit\'s core competency of gaming monetization by bringing proven video engagement into social gaming. The result is a huge audience of highly-engaged users who are ready and willing to consume video content of any length and subject matter and share that content across social media. Advertisers commonly use our platform to seed up major viral ad campaigns. Our campaigns have included viral ads from Smart Water, Dollar Shave Club, Samsung, HP, Ford, Dell, Volkswagen, DirecTV, and many many more.
