Current: Lecturer in rooms of various size, columnist for Digital Forensics Magazine, contributor to Absolute Lotus magazine, occasional media star, and reinventing myself as something other than a forensic practitioner thanks to the FSR making it too expensive to continue. Still working on Digital Evidence verification and validation issues, along with poor use of language in regulations.(see my PhD thesis for more : https://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/32289/).Immediate past : Registered with NCA as a specialist advisor dealing with Internet activity, including social media, instant messaging (WhatsApp, Telegram etc.), encrypted communications (PGP, email etc.) & forensic computing. I have recently been called in to give complementary evidence in several long-running/high profile cases. This involved producing reports & statements to clarify complex technical issues for non-technical readers. Currently clearing off the trials in the last few cases I undertook before the FSR made it impossible to continue to practice.Director of the Digital Evidence Virtual Centre of Excellence CIC (DEVCE) a community interest company, dedicated to supporting R&D in digital evidence matters. Any profit made has to be put back into supporting the DE community.I was a member of the Forensic Science Regulator\'s working group on digital evidence.I have written over 200 reports for prosecution and defence in cases ranging from copyright violation (CD & DVD piracy) through fraud to child abuse and murder. Previous academic experience : Senior lecturer and course leader for 2 BSc & 3MSc programmes in digital evidence and forensic software development.Principal Investigator on EPSRC-funded Cyberprofiling research project.Co-author of chapters in \"Investigating Digital Crime\" and author of \"Digital Forensics : digital evidence in criminal investigations\" both published by Wiley in 2008. Specialties: Course development, course delivery, evidence analysis, interpretation and reporting. Particular expertise in internet crime, linux/unix systems as well as Windows.
