Carolina Public Press is an independent nonprofit news organization dedicated to nonpartisan, in-depth and investigative news built upon the facts and context North Carolinians need to know. Our award-winning, breakthrough journalism dismantles barriers and shines a light on the critical overlooked and under-reported issues facing our state’s 10.2 million residents. Find us at Launched in 2011, Carolina Public Press received its independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2014. In 2018, Carolina Public Press announced it would expand its coverage area to include all of North Carolina.

ABOUT ANGIE NEWSOME
I am passionate about nonprofit, independent journalism, with special emphasis on investigative and in-depth public interest reporting on the many overlooked and under-reported issues facing our communities - from the environment to health care, from government transparency to education. Ultimately, I believe that journalism is a vital public service and a vital part of a vibrant democracy. As a North Carolina native, I\'ve devoted my work in journalism to my home state, as a journalist, a news entrepreneur and a nonprofit leader. In 2021, Carolina Public Press is celebrating its first decade of work. We\'re now the only wholly independent, nonpartisan statewide nonprofit news organization devoted to investigative and public-interest reporting. Along the way, I\'ve been honored to have been honored as one of the top new media women entrepreneurs in the country. And Carolina Public Press has earned statewide and national recognition for our impactful journalism and our 10-year commitment to engaging the communities we serve. We have a strong and ambitious vision for our next 10 years, and I\'m now focused on building Carolina Public Press into the state\'s largest team of nonpartisan and independent investigative and public-interest reporters serving North Carolina.
