RTDNA Canada is a progressive organization offering a forum for open discussion, educational information and action in the news industry. The Association speaks for the leaders and members of Canada’s radio, television and digital news operations on the issues that impact news coverage and journalists. RTDNA Canada fosters education, career development, national and regional awards recognition, and an active dialogue with the membership.RTDNA Canada is the voice of broadcast and digital journalists as well as news managers and leaders in Canada. The members of RTDNA Canada recognize the responsibility of broadcast journalists to promote and to protect the freedom to report independently about matters of public interest and to present a wide range of expressions, opinions and ideas. The RTDNA Canada Code of Ethics, adopted by the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council, is used to measure fairness and accuracy in our professionMy job as president is to enhance the support and promotion of journalists in Canada and around the world. I will also work with colleges and universities to engage young journalism students, give them support, and mentorship opportunities along with awarding and honouring, their work and the work of Canadian journalists already in the thick of it all. We are not done telling stories … in fact we are far from done. I will work to continue to keep journalism for my generation and generations to come!

ABOUT ANGIE SETH
My name is Angie Seth. I am an award winning journalist, news anchor, reporter, host, and storyteller. I have been a journalist for over 25 years. Most recently I was a news anchor and reporter for CTV News Channel covering the biggest stories of the day including 2 Federal elections, COVID-19 pandemic, the death of George Floyd, to the Queen’s funeral and the Coronation of King Charles COVI-19 special coverage. Over the last five years, since 2020, I have also been hosting and producing a Realities of Racism segment. It was created after the death of George Floyd … I have interviewed guests from all walks of life, discussing all aspects of racism and discrimination in Canada and what needed to be done to change the dial, along with highlighting the successes and barriers broken. In March 2023, I was offered my own show at CTV - This Hour With Angie Seth. This was an all Canadian content one hour show that comprised of interviews with CTV anchors across the country about issues important to Canadians in the respective provinces on both a regional and National level. I hosted and produced the show alongside my producer. Prior to being at CTV, I was a reporter and Multi-market weekend anchor at Global News. I anchored 14 shows a day (6pm and 11pm) across the country. I also hosted an hourly newscast at CBC prior to joining Global in 2013. I started my career at OMNI television back in as a reporter/writer and news coordinator for South Asian News. During my time at OMNI, I was one of the lead reporters on top stories such as the 9/11 terror attacks, Sharia law debate in Ontario, 2008 Mumbai Terror attacks, and the Air India trial in Ontario. I also hosted and produced two entertainment programs, ISHTYLE TV and BOLLYWOOD BLVD. In 2008 was I promoted to lead anchor of South Asian news, along with specials on the Pakistan earthquake and the 2006 Tsunami. I graduated from the University of Toronto with an honours bachelor’s degree in Political Science, English, and Philosophy. I am a strong advocate for women’s rights, children’s rights, the fight against domestic violence, racism and discrimination. From 2014 through 2016, I worked on a project with the South Asian Women’s Centre on taking a deep dive on the issue of gender violence within the South Asian community. I have been honoured and humbled with the recognition of several awards, including the Edward Murrow Award for Innovative Journalism in 2018 for MultiMarket Content, and the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for my work as a journalist and contributions to the community.
