I’ve had the privilege of leading safety efforts by building strong, trust-based relationships with craft and frontline teams. Through consistent engagement, daily conversations, recognition of safe behaviors, and deliberate planning of high-risk activities, I work to ensure safety is not treated as a rule to follow, but as a value that guides how we lead and how we work.I lead safety with a clear expectation that safety is a core value with a shared responsibility. Through daily engagement I emphasize the importance of strong JSA quality, ensuring hazards are identified early and controls are practical, understood, and owned by the individuals doing the work. I actively promote near-miss reporting as a learning opportunity rather than a compliance exercise. By encouraging open dialogue and timely reporting, we’re able to address risks before they result in injury and continuously improve how work is planned and executed. Equally as important, I reinforce and model stop-work authority, making it clear that every individual has both the right and responsibility to pause work when conditions change or something doesn’t feel right. My role as a leader is to support those decisions without hesitation and ensure concerns are addressed promptly.My leadership focus is on building a sustainable safety culture, one where individuals feel supported, valued, and confident that leadership is committed to their well-being, so everyone goes home safely at the end of every day in the same manner they arrived for work.
