About Anghea Dolisca

PhD Student in Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University | GEM PhD Fellow | Focused on medtech solutions for chronic disease care I recently graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and completed an Honors in the Major thesis focused on nanomaterials for lightweight conductive thin films. As a student researcher at the High Performance Materials Institute, I explored how material structure influences performance in biomedical and sensing applications. I’ve also gained hands-on experience in both medical labs and pharmaceutical environments, including process development and translational research. These experiences shaped my desire to bridge research with real-world impact. This fall, I will be continuing my journey at Carnegie Mellon University as a PhD student and GEM Fellow. My goal is to build a career that merges research and entrepreneurship by creating accessible medtech solutions for chronic disease management, especially in underserved communities.

Experience

  1. Cnms Intern

    Oak Ridge National Laboratory

May 2025 — Present · Knox County, TN, US

Contributed to the development and characterization of LaVO₃ thin films for solar energy applications, using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) to achieve high-quality growth on both SrTiO₃ (STO) and quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) substrates. Applied advanced techniques such as PPMS, EIS, and cyclic voltammetry to assess electrical behavior under varied environmental and lighting conditions. Collaborated with researchers to optimize deposition parameters, refine measurement workflows, and evaluate substrate and electrode configurations to reduce interference. Supported broader efforts in quantum and energy materials research by analyzing performance trends and assessing film stability under real-world stressors, including humidity and UV exposure.
