ABOUT ANGELO YAP
Hello! I am an incoming physician assistant student at Barry University in Miami Shores expecting to graduate in December 2027 with my Master of Clinical Medical Science in Physician Assistant. Prior to this, I graduated from the University of Florida in May 2024 and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Minor in Health Promotion. In the past few years, my interdisciplinary experience in health education and person-centered care has solidified my drive to advance patient interactions as a physician assistant. In preparation for physician assistant school, I have gained invaluable clinical experience as a patient care assistant on a hospitalist medicine med/surg unit at UF Health Shands Hospital and most recently transitioned to a role as a patient care technician in an acute inpatient rehabilitation facility within Ascension St. Vincent\'s Southside Hospital. Though I am open to any speciality, discerning my parents’ passion in physical therapy, shadowing physician assistants, and working in hospital facilities have inspired personal interests in physiatry, orthopedics, and emergency medicine. Through diverse outreach in both personal and professional aspects, I hope to further strengthen my cultural competency, holistic approaches, and collaborative outcomes necessary to uphold my values of patient advocacy, empathetic example, and situational adaptability. With this, I intend to accumulate notable interactions with diverse populations that can aid me in mitigating health disparities and providing high-quality care. In my free time, I enjoy an active lifestyle and exploring my Filipino heritage. I also wish to extend my cultural backgrounds and linguistic studies to facilitate communication across distinct demographics. Y eso, ¡me apasiona! Feel free to connect with me, or email me at a••••••••@mymail.barry.edu!
