About Angelo Cusimano

Thanks for visiting my profile!I’m Angelo Cusimano, a social psychologist and public health researcher completing my PhD in Basic and Applied Social Psychology at the CUNY Graduate Center. My work examines how race and gender shape experiences of exclusion, belonging, and health among U.S. Multiracial women. Across projects, I integrate psychological theory with public health and policy perspectives to illuminate mechanisms of inequality and resilience.During my PhD, I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Baruch College, CUNY, mentoring undergraduates in advanced research methods and statistics using SPSS. I now lead my own courses in Intermediate Statistics and Diversity in the Workplace (online, asynchronous), translating complex quantitative concepts into accessible, applied learning and emphasizing real-world application.Prior to doctoral training, I worked as a Lab Manager at the University of Virginia, supervising 30 undergraduate research assistants and coordinating a portfolio of in-person, online, and field-based studies. I managed several high-impact grants and awards, streamlined lab operations, and founded a weekly career development initiative known as the Preparatory Education Program. This role strengthened my leadership, operational strategy, and team development skills alongside my research training.Beyond academia, I collaborate on creative projects across media and tech, including work with Lesbians Who Tech and the annual DapperQ fashion show at the Brooklyn Museum. I also support grassroots initiatives that amplify queer and trans artists and organizers.I’ll be entering the job market this summer and am eager to explore opportunities that challenge me creatively and strengthen my problem-solving skills. As a queer trans man, I’m particularly drawn to organizations that value authenticity, equity, and inclusion. If your work intersects with research, strategy, health equity, or inclusive design, I’d love to connect—shoot me a message!
