ABOUT ÁNGEL MATOS
I’m a physician by training who early on gravitated toward medical education—teaching, mentoring, and supporting the development of future physicians.Over the past 13+ years, I’ve worked across academic medicine and education leadership, focusing on curriculum innovation, student success, and institutional strategy in international contexts.I currently serve as a Medical Education Specialist at AMBOSS, where I collaborate with academic leaders and faculty across international and U.S. medical schools to integrate evidence-based, technology-enabled solutions into medical curricula. My work focuses on aligning educational strategy, assessment, and digital tools to improve learner outcomes at scale.Previously, I served as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, where I led academic operations, student progression initiatives, accreditation strategy, and quality assurance. I partnered closely with institutional and corporate leadership—including board-level engagement—to drive alignment, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance across U.S. and U.K. frameworks, and led large-scale transformation initiatives in collaboration with McKinsey. After more than a decade in academia, I became increasingly interested in how technology and AI can accelerate innovation in medical education and better support learners at scale. That perspective led me to transition into the ed-tech space.I’m particularly interested in designing systems that improve learner outcomes while enabling more flexible, sustainable ways of working—bringing together education, technology, and strategy to create meaningful impact.
