ABOUT ANGELINA CAIN

After working in primary care, I realized the great need for specialized obesity care and became board certified. I quickly became focused solely on treating patients with obesity. I approached my local community hospital and had the pleasure of developing the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Bariatric Center which has seen great success. At TMH I formed a multidisciplinary team to provide the latest in evidence based care. Treatment options include; bariatric surgery, liquid meal replacement, and lifestyle modification. The program focuses on patient education and accountability but also includes research, medical education and community involvement.After working at TMH, I decided to accept a position with WellStar, at their Kennestone Hospital location, as Medical Director of Obesity Medicine. I worked to expand their Bariatric Services to include Obesity Medicine and integrate it into their expansive medical community. The opportunity to work in a larger city and hospital network was very exciting and came with endless possibilities.Since the Comprehensive Bariatric Services clinic success, a natural progression was to take our model and focus on employees and dependents essentially creating WellStar\'s Health component of their full service benefit structure, Wellbeing 365. The concept of a multidisciplinary team and evidence based care was expanded for all employees/dependents. That concept with strategic benefits support allowed the opening of an employee focused clinic, Center for Best Health. The outcomes and reach of these initiatives have shown improved health, satisfaction and reduced cost.After six years, it was time to go out on my own. Consulting through Excelsis Health provided an opportunity to use my knowledge to help others grow/develop successful weight management programs. Including- bariatric programs, orthopedic, hospital/surgical and employer and insurance programs. While still consulting, I worked alongside a well-known bariatric surgeon to help launching the non-surgical weight loss program with Beltline Bariatrics. This amazing opportunity allowed for the creation of programs to support surgical and non-surgical patients in multiple locations and to learn about private practice. The superior surgical team, staff and culture allows this program to reach across Georgia providing life changing results.Currently, Excelsis Health has expanded to include not only consulting but full time Lifestyle Medicine and Obesity Medicine clinics in Marietta, GA and Fayetteville, GA serving patients of all ages.
