About Angela Walker
I’m an internal medicine physician and an epidemiologist. As an epidemiologist I conducted landmark research in the investigation, prevention and treatment of tuberculosis including the investigation of MDR Tuberculosis while at the CDC. I have engaged in activities related to health promotion and disease prevention through out my career including the investigation of and the treatment of tuberculosis in high risk populations such as those with HIV. I have experience in public health research and in clinical research.One of my objectives is to use my extensive background to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic; and in that capacity, I can help connect the right people with the right resources to stem the tide of the outbreak. Public health is my passion. When it comes to protecting the health of others, I wonder who is protecting the health of the front line health care workers. If they become sick, who will take their place?I am very interested in coordinating with thought leaders that are responsible for caring for health care employees and providers to structure emergency plans protect employees and to strengthen the work force that is so critical to fighting COVID-19. Health care workers and first responders including emergency personnel are at the tip of the spear of this war. I want to help with their readiness.
