ABOUT ANGELA VICTORIA GARZA

I currently serve as a Program Facilitator with New Life Centers, where I work with the New Vecinos program at state-run shelters throughout the city of Chicago. Over the past year and a half, I’ve had the opportunity to grow within the organization—starting as a Community Care Assistant, then transitioning to Lead Concierge Associate, and now serving in my current role. In my work, I plan and lead impactful activities and workshops for residents focused on workforce development, cultural awareness, and life skills—all tailored to support those transitioning into stable, independent lives. In Fall 2025, I will begin my Master’s in International Affairs at George Washington University. My goal is to expand my capacity to support communities both locally and globally through policy, diplomacy, and humanitarian work. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in International and Global Studies from Sewanee: The University of the South, with a concentration in global politics and global culture and society in Latin America, and a minor in psychology. Driven by a deep passion for helping others, I aim to bridge local experiences with global action, continuing to advocate for underserved communities around the world.
