ABOUT ANGELA TOLLIS

Hello! My name is Angela, and I\'m so excited that you\'re here!I am a recent graduate with a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering (COOP) and Society, minor in sustainability from McMaster University. I prioritize advocating for Women in STEM and take pride in my strong commitment and work ethic. I\'ve had the privilege of carrying out multiple internships throughout my time at university. During my grade 12 year and my first year in university, I worked at McMaster Engineering Physics as a lab intern, where I found a love for research and design analysis. From May to August 2021, I pursued a 4-month co-op at SnapPea Design as a Mechanical Product Designer, where I experienced carrying out multiple projects from ideation with clients, to CAD models, to prototypes, to mass production. In the summer of 2022, I completed a co-op at SkyJack Inc, a Linamar Company, where I project-managed much of their current hardware testing and designed hydraulic systems. Recently, I completed a 16-month internship as a mechanical engineering intern at MDA Space.During my undergrad I was involved within the mechanical subteam as the Mechanical Sub-Team Lead (Formerly Mechanical Drawing and Manufacturing Specialist) on the McMaster Interdisciplinary Satellite Team (NEUDOSE and PRESET, 2 CubeSat projects with the CSA and Nanoracks). I also previously held the role of a science mechanical member on the McMaster Mars Rover Team, and I continue my involvement as a university mentor on my FIRST Robotics team.I also made the time to get involved in my undergraduate program. I was involved in the Engineering and Society Student Association (ESSA) for five years and have held the positions of Vice President and President of the association. Additionally, I also mentored for the Women in Engineering Society for six years at McMaster, where I helped first-year girls integrate themselves into the community and academic lifestyle. Finally, I was also on the McMaster Engineering Welcome Week Team for five years, two of which were spent serving on the Organizational Committee. With my industry experience, my passion for robotics, my continued community involvement, and my university education, I utilize and continue to develop my skills in Computer-Aided Design, metal fabrication, 3D Printing, wiring, programming, event organization, presenting, and more. I have always dreamed of pursuing a career within the space and robotics industry, which I am currently carrying out at Kepler Communications. Feel free to browse through my page here to see my journey thus far!
