ABOUT ANGELA SUN
Currently, a Psychology undergraduate at the University of British Columbia finishing up her degree and is passionate about a career in clinical counseling. Specifically interested in learning more about Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). I believe many of the challenges that arise from interpersonal relationships can stem from the active or passive repression of emotions. After taking CNPS 362 Counselling Skills and CNPS 365 Counselling Theories, I have come to incorporate different theoretical frameworks in an eclectic manner when practicing during weekly labs. I took a strong liking to using a Person-Centered perspective when facing painful moments emerging from one\'s emotional well-being. This humanistic approach allowed me to facilitate a space to induce more awareness, expression, and reflection of feelings. Using corrective experiences helped both me and my clients understand why re-visiting certain hurtful memories can lead to moments of insight.Currently studying abroad at the University of Mannheim in Germany where I am learning Contemplative Science and Practices in Preventive and Clinical Contexts and also researching the Effects of Social Exclusion from a Social-Personality Perspective.
