ABOUT ANGELA JENKINS

As a population, community and social health equity strategist with over 20 years of experience, I develop and implement programs that address the needs of communities experiencing significant barriers to achieving good health. I am currently the Vice President of Accountable Communities at Prisma Health, the largest not-for-profit health organization in South Carolina, where I lead the execution of an enterprise-wide Community and Social Health Equity strategy that aligns with the organization\'s goal to improve the state of health for all South Carolinians. In this role, I also co-lead the organization’s response to new CMS and Joint Commission regulatory and compliance requirements to address health equity, and serve as the Health Equity lead for Prisma Health\'s ACO REACH initiative, which aims to reduce health disparities and improve quality and cost outcomes for Medicaid beneficiaries. Before joining Prisma Health, I held several leadership roles at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California, where I launched and oversaw a portfolio of Community Health initiatives that addressed equity and social justice, healthy school climate, mental health and trauma, community and family safety, and homelessness prevention. I also managed a public health messaging campaign to address COVID-19-related health disparities in underserved communities. I hold a Master of Public Policy and Administration from California State University-Sacramento and have completed several executive leadership programs including those at Harvard University and Morehouse School of Medicine. I am deeply involved in my community, serving on several boards and coalitions that advocate for health equity and justice.
