ABOUT ANGELA FRANKLIN
Working as a special education professional within the educational system allows me to ensure students within the school setting are receiving adequate and appropriate services and accommodations. I work to follow compliance standards as stated by FAPE, IDEA, and ADA within the school setting. I advocate daily for students in need, working with parents, classroom teachers and the ESE team to improve classroom management, positive behavior supports, and related accommodations and services to assist students in accessing their general curriculum. My specialities include working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental and emotional disabilities. I posses a Masters Degree in Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health with a concentration in Developmental Disabilities as well as a graduate certificate in Positive Behavior Support. I have also completed a course to become a registered Certified Autism Specialist. Currently, I am enrolled in Capella University’s PhD in Developmental Psychology. As a doctoral candidate, I look forward to expanding my knowledge of developmental disabilities, mental health, and health care policy and law. Upon completing my dissertation, I hope to provide support and consultation for professionals working with adolescents and young adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder to improve their access to appropriate care.
