ABOUT ANGELA BROWN

Organized sports have impacted my life tremendously. I competed as a USA Track & Field Long Jumper, where I ranked as the Pan-American Silver Medalist, am an NCAA National Champion, and an eight-time All-American Long Jump Champion. Professionally, I have committed my time, energy, and passion to hundreds of rising student-athletes, training, developing, and mentoring them directly from my own personal experiences as an accomplished athlete — both the failures and successes. My experience as an athletics leader across myriad sports, from coaching Girl\'s Varsity Basketball, Varsity Track and Field, and Cross Country to Strength Conditioning Coach for the Los Angeles Sparks, and most recently, serving as both the Commissioner for San Fernando Valley Private School League (SFVPSL) and within an executive leadership capacity at Mirman School, uniquely positions me to lead an Athletics program. Alongside my experiences and successes, I am willing to grow and learn personally and professionally. I am incredibly motivated and passionate about helping student-athletes do the same by advocating for themselves and leaning into the importance of becoming both lifelong learners and well-rounded citizens. Through my executive leadership experience, I have learned the importance of mastering communication and interpersonal skills and discovered that a team’s success heavily depends on their emotional intelligence as much as it does their physical capabilities. At Mirman School, I implemented a robust athletic program that incorporates social-emotional learning with cross-curricular integration, creating a safe space for our students to thrive athletically and academically. My strategic approach to curriculum and program planning led to my ability to surpass all of the goals outlined in my three-year growth plan within my first year at Mirman. Additionally, I built and currently manage a highly successful athletics department by establishing a culture of inclusion, cohesion, collaboration, and growth adaptation.
