1] GradeWise• Developed a Large Language Model (LLM)-based Automated Grader to evaluate handwritten Computer Science exam scripts, specifically targeting subjects like Data Structures & Algorithms, with a focus on logic, clarity, and correctness of answers.• Fine-tuned Vision-Language Models (VLMs) for extracting handwritten text and generating natural language descriptions for figures, diagrams, and flowcharts included in the answer scripts.• Enhanced LLM reasoning capabilities by finetuning on domain-specific content and custom evaluation rubrics; implemented a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline to align grading with historical decisions made by human evaluators.• Achieved GPT-4o-comparable grading accuracy while reducing model size by 96%, resulting in a lightweight, scalable solution suitable for deployment in educational institutions.[2] FlowCap (Flowchart Captioning)• Developed a Vision Language Model optimized for generating natural language descriptions of academic illustrations, such as flowcharts and block diagrams, with a focus on Computer Science subjects.• Analyzed state-of-the-art VLM architectures and multimodal fusion techniques to guide model design.• Built a specialized dataset by scraping OS textbook images, using the Qwen2-VL 72B Instruct model to generate technical descriptions, and structuring (image, description) pairs for finetuning.• Implemented Direct Policy Optimization (DPO) and Low Rank Adaptation (LoRA) to fine-tuning the Qwen2-VL 2B Instruct model on the custom dataset.Research Guide : Dr Janaki Meena
