About Abisharan Nedun
I’m currently a rising senior majoring in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland, with a concentration in hypersonics. I have taken classes on control theory, compressible / incompressible fluid dynamics, vibrations, and structural mechanics.I am also on the Aerodynamics sub team of the Terps Racing Electric Vehicle Team, where I’ve conducted extensive CFD simulations using Siemens Star CCM+ to evaluate downforce and drag, particularly for our rear wing where we did extensive research on high downforce airfoils. Even more, I am designing our rear wing for our upcoming FSAE race car that features lofted airfoil surfaces to clear common wake disturbances. Furthermore, as a longtime Formula One fan, I’ve developed an F1 telemetry tracker that makes it easy to view race and qualifying results, explore the rules, and examine annotated track layouts. You can find the GitHub repository and an introductory video in the Featured section below to learn more if interested. In my Aerospace Control Systems course, I completed a final project focused on applying control theory to land a Mars lander in a narrow valley. The project design report is also available in the Featured section. I am happy to answer any pertaining questions regarding the project as well. Previously, I was part of both the Propulsion/Drive and Excavation sub teams at UMD LOOP. I initially worked on developing a muck removal system for our tunnel boring machine as part of The Boring Company’s \"Not-a-Boring Competition.\" Later, I helped design a planetary gearbox, selected motor drivers, and assembled our first working rover prototype for the University Rover Challenge.I’m proficient in tools such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, MATLAB, ANSYS, and COMSOL 6.0, and have hands-on experience with CNC machining and 3D printing. I\'m always open to connecting with others to discuss aerospace projects, coursework, or career opportunities.
