About Andy Shapira

MD, PhD with global CRO, pharmaceutical, medical device, clinical trial and academic experience. I am the Senior Director of Medical and Scientific Affairs for the Neurosciences in the Americas at ICON plc responsible for functions including providing medical expertise on clinical drug development throughout the life-cycle of a compound, providing benefit/risk evaluations and drug safety expertise, and serving as People Leader for the Neuroscience Group in the Americas. Previously, I was a clinical trial physician at Carman Research in Atlanta, Georgia. Before Carman Research, I was at Tikvah Therapeutics and responsible for R&D in psychiatry and neurology. Prior to Tikvah, I was director of Neuroscience, Solvay Pharmaceuticals where I helped direct its schizophrenia and Parkinson’s development programs. Prior to Solvay, I was Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Florida specialized in the treatment of anxiety, mood and impulse control disorders. I have been an investigator on numerous clinical trials and am widely published. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, have an active GA medical and DEA license.
