ABOUT ANDY MCCONKEY

I am highly motivated Chartered Water and Environment Manager with over 20 year’s experience within the field, working as a Consultant and Regulator. As a consultant I have helped my clients to deliver significant change projects, optimise capital investment, improve customer service, manage risk and deliver environmental improvements. As a project manager and technologist I have delivered projects for Water Utilities, Airports, Local and National Governments and Private Sector Developers, both in the UK and Internationally. I am highly innovative and encourage innovation in my team. This innovation has driven new approaches to investment and infrastructure planning with clients across a range of sectors and geographies. My core skills are focused on Project Management, Regulation, Assurance, Masterplanning, Integrated Catchment Management, Water Quality Assessment, and Change Management. I am passionate about using technology to improve information transfer: primarily for data management and visualisations. About using the right media and communication methods to match the message to the audience; communication is absolutely fundamental to the success of any project and I seek to ensure the message is communicated clearly and at the right level for the target audience. I care deeply about our environment, about social justice and our resilience to climate change. In my family life, I have young kids and a gorgeous wife, and we spend much of our spare time out and about in the water environment. I want an open, inclusive, fair and safe world where my kids can prosper and where societies can flourish. We need to change the way we think about development and how we define success.
