ABOUT ANDY HILES

I work as a business psychologist and performance coach who helps leaders and teams deal with the behaviour, communication and decision habits that quietly trip them up. Most of my work lives at the point where psychology meets delivery. I look at what people actually do, not what they wish they were doing, and help them shift the patterns that slow everything down.My background runs across defence, aerospace, engineering, banking and insurance. I have coached senior groups in the MOD, guided engineers at MBDA, supported programme directors at Direct Line and worked closely with product teams at Tesco Bank. I have trained more than 600 people, designed courses now used by more than 100 ProKanban trainers worldwide and stepped into some fairly lively leadership situations to steady communication before it derailed important work.I hold an MSc in Business Psychology, and I am a Certified Business Psychologist, a Professional Scrum Trainer and a performance coach. My research on neurodivergent experiences of personality assessments received a distinction and two academic awards, leading to speaking invitations at MBDA and the British Psychological Society conference and continues to shape how I design training for mixed thinking styles.I enjoy the practical side of psychology. I use behavioural observation, coaching routines and simple decision tools to help leaders navigate difficult conversations without turning meetings into theatre. I have helped teams remove wasted effort, helped leaders settle communication issues that were slowing delivery and supported individuals through career transitions and workplace challenges through ongoing coaching.I am at my best when I am helping people understand what is actually happening in their teams and giving them grounded, usable guidance that improves how they work together.
