ABOUT ANDY FROST

The Choice || Career PathI was bought up in a family who all work in the computing sector. Should I follow the family tradition or try something different? I was told by members of my family, friends and colleagues as well as books such as ‘Work Rules’ by Laszlo Bock, that you spend such a large percentage of your life at work, you NEED to have a job that you enjoy. So let’s just say I decided to follow the family tradition. I knew from when I started computing in secondary school I was always going to follow my parent’s footsteps and I was always going to head down this career path. I have had a very successful start to my journey but I am now looking for that company that’s going to allow me to take that next step. I want to be part of a company, which wants to grow, succeed and then thrive. I know that being part of a company that is always pushing its boundaries is critical for developing my own skills and push my own boundaries. The Second Step || Break throughMy ambition quickly meant that I had taken my second major step along my career path after successfully becoming a 3rd level global mobile support contractor for TNT Logistics shortly after graduating. I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a 2:1 degree in Computer Forensics, which concluded in me presenting my final year project alongside a select few at an end of year showcase for industry experts.Worth it || High RiskBecoming a contractor at the age of 21, shortly after leaving university isn’t something many would recommend with the responsibility of running your own company, managing finances and the threat of a one day notice period being enough to discourage many young graduates. My ability to pick up new skills efficiently and mould into a small highly knit team smoothly and communicate effectively with colleagues globally has meant that I was successfully offered an extension on my original 6 month contract.
