I am an independent pensions governance professional, currently serving as Independent Professional Observer to the Scottish Borders Council Pension Fund and Chair of the State Street UK Pension Trustee Board.In my LGPS role, I support elected members and officers by strengthening decision-making, assurance and governance discipline. My focus is on helping committees test and understand the information and advice they receive, particularly where complexity is increasing through investment pooling, delegation and evolving regulatory expectations, including the direction of travel signalled by the Fit for the Future reforms. I work collaboratively with officers and advisers, adding independent perspective without duplicating existing roles.I have chaired the State Street UK Pension Trustee Board since 2018, overseeing both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution sections. In that role, I focus on prudent decision-making, regulatory compliance and effective board dynamics to act in the long-term interests of all members and their beneficiaries.Across both roles, I bring a calm, analytical and proportionate approach, supporting transparent governance and clear accountability. I am particularly interested in opportunities where an independent perspective can add incremental value to already strong LGPS governance arrangements.
