About Andy Winburn
I believe the highest-value application of AI in healthcare isn\'t replacing clinical judgment — it\'s extending it. Building systems where clinicians stay in the loop, where domain expertise shapes the intelligence, and where AI handles the volume so humans can focus on the decisions that matter. That belief comes from 25+ years of hands-on healthcare experience. My career started at the bedside: emergency trauma nursing, then coronary care and electrophysiology, then 13 years as a Principal Clinical Specialist at Medtronic supporting cardiac device implants, heart failure management, and remote monitoring across the Carolinas and internationally. That fieldwork — from pediatric implants to complex CRT cases, from EP labs to CareLink implementations — gave me something that\'s hard to teach: an intuitive understanding of what clinicians actually need when they\'re making decisions under time pressure. Now I apply that clinical lens to healthcare technology. I lead product strategy for AI-driven clinical decision support in cardiovascular care, working across the full ecosystem of major device manufacturers. My focus is on building intelligence that reflects real clinical reasoning — not just automation, but systems that extend the reach and accuracy of the clinicians who use them. What I bring to the table:→ Deep clinical fluency across cardiovascular care — cardiac rhythm management, heart failure, remote monitoring workflows, and device data interpretation→ The ability to define what \"clinically correct\" looks like for AI systems — and the experience to know where edge cases hide→ A growing technical toolkit spanning health informatics, Python, SQL, and applied AI→ An RN foundation that lets me speak the language of clinical workflows in any care setting — from the ER to the device clinic to the heart failure programBackground: BSN (Clemson), MS Health Informatics (UTHealth Houston), RN with critical care and electrophysiology experience, published researcher in prehospital telehealth, certified in Agentic AI (DeepLearning.AI). Eagle Scout.I\'m always interested in connecting with people working on AI in healthcare, clinical informatics, or cardiovascular innovation.
