View department →

Orlando, FL, US

I was elected as Class President for my cohort in August 2022. My responsibilities include scheduling and creating an agenda for and lead both Team SBM and cohort meetings. I coordinated meeting room reservations with the Office Administrator. I lead re-registration process within 10 days of beginning my role. I ensured that Team SBM is eligible to apply for funding from UCF’s Student Government Association (SGA), including completing the required financial literacy training. I worked with the Graduate Assistant for the Director of External Affairs to secure funding from SGA for the annual class trip. I understood all facets of Team SBM, including the DeVos/Team SBM financial system. I ensured each voice within the cohort was heard, and advocated for the cohort as a whole. I address all students’ concerns and suggestions as they arise.

ABOUT ANDY SMITH

My name is Andy Smith and I am originally from Broward County, Florida. I completed my undergraduate studies at Florida Atlantic University where I earned my Bachelors of Business Administration. During my time at FAU, I served as a Video Coordinator for the football team where I was responsible to film plays during team practices and workouts. I briefly served as an intern for the Help Our Wounded(HOW) foundation which focused on finding ways to detect and treat concussions in athletes, with the main focus being on football. After graduation, I decided to go to graduate school and was blessed to be accepted in the DeVos Sport Business Management program where I serve as Class President of my Cohort. I am also a graduate assistant for The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport where I help write, edit, and create charts on Tableau that go into the reports. I\'ve also had opportunities to work on innovative projects such as the Orlando Magic Customer Journey project where we presented in front of executives about the experiences customers partake in throughout the duration of an Orlando Magic game. I am a self-motivated individual who has proven to be a leader that brings out the best in those around me. I am excited to continue to gain more valuable knowledge and experience in the sports industry each and every day. I am open to working in various roles within the sport industry at a professional setting whether that be player services, partnerships, marketing, etc. Feel free to reach out, I look forward to connecting with anyone!
