As Head of Risk, Controls & Assurance for NatWest Marketing, reporting to Head of Operations, I was responsible for directing operational risk and control strategy across 250+ FTE function, focusing on Group alignment to risk appetite, policy and regulation standards across all activities and functions. I was also responsible for embedding 1LoD ownership within Marketing team to drive accountability, risk culture and control disciplines, focusing on continually enhancing decision making and strategy delivery. I was also charged with governing full risk lifecycle, focusing on identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring of all operational, conduct and compliance risk functions.Key Achievements: Successfully embedded proactive risk culture, achieving top quartile results in Group wide staff engagement and risk awareness surveys. Delivered robust control testing and assurance framework, that significantly enhanced early risk detection, reduced loss event frequency and improved audit outcomes. Strengthened Group 3LoD risk model through improved governance, data transparency and risk metric tracking, therefore creating clearer accountability across all functions.
