SKILLS
ABOUT ANDY POLLARD
Senior manufacturing cost engineer with more than 40 years of experience analysing and modelling the cost of complex engineered products across automotive, aerospace, rail and industrial sectors. My work focuses on understanding how materials, manufacturing processes, supply chains and engineering decisions influence product cost, enabling organisations to make informed design, procurement and programme decisions.Over the course of my career I have supported cost engineering activities across major global organisations including Nissan, Rolls-Royce Aerospace, Bombardier / Alstom, Caterpillar (Perkins) and Fortescue Zero, working on a wide range of engineered systems and components. My experience spans the full product lifecycle, from early concept costing and target cost setting through to supplier cost evaluation and value improvement activities.Areas of expertise:Product Cost Engineering• Manufacturing cost analysis of complex assemblies• Cost driver identification across materials and processes• Product cost modelling and cost estimation• Cost support for engineering design decisionsSupplier Cost Evaluation• Analysis of supplier quotations and cost structures• Identification of manufacturing and material cost drivers• Cost benchmarking across suppliers and technologiesCost Modelling• Development of structured cost models and analysis tools• Use of cost data to support engineering and procurement decisions• Application of manufacturing knowledge to product cost evaluationMy career began through a technical apprenticeship, providing a strong foundation in manufacturing and engineering practice which continues to shape my approach to cost engineering.I am particularly interested in opportunities where engineering knowledge and cost analysis intersect, supporting organisations in understanding and improving the cost of complex engineered products.
