ABOUT ANDY MCKAY
Andy is a serial energy innovator and entrepreneur with a track record of building and scaling breakthrough technologies in the clean energy sector. A computer scientist by training, Andy has, as both founder and executive leader, created high-growth ventures spanning smart metering, EV charging, smart home energy management, and low-carbon heating—each contributing to the UK’s transition to net zero. His career spans the full energy landscape—from retail and flexibility to networks, regulation, and digital energy systems—giving him a uniquely integrated view of how technology and policy intersect to deliver Net Zero.He played a founding role in Remote Energy Monitoring (acquired by GE and now Aclara Meters), helped establish myenergi as one of the UK’s fastest-growing technology firms, and co-created Evergreen’s Homely, a smart heat pump controller optimising household heating and flexibility. Today, he is co-founder of Nusku, a next-generation British heat pump manufacturer making low-carbon heating faster, simpler, and more affordable.Across his ventures, Andy has secured major innovation funding from DESNZ, Innovate UK, and UKRI, supporting projects that digitalise the energy system and enable households to automatically use their own low-carbon technologies—heat pumps, EVs, and solar—to interact with the grid for the benefit of all, including those in fuel poverty.A former Group CIO of a €1.6 bn pan-European energy supplier and board member at myenergi, Andy now advises early-stage ventures through Energethical, his strategic consultancy. He remains a passionate advocate for clean technology, UK manufacturing, and system innovation—championing ideas that accelerate home electrification and deliver a fair, inclusive energy transition.
